1 Jul 2020 -dropped in to the kiosk tent on roadside in Kanata South thinking contributing to the local economy, on our way back to Orleans. Young lady there mentioned your strawberries were freshly picked that morning. Covid situation allowed the vendor to display strawberry baskets but only at a distance as the area was cordoned off. We were offered our pick so we picked a 2l basket – 13.00. Got home, took the berries to water for washing. Pls be aware this is not our first strawberry buy and we are quite aware of what fresh picked strawberries are supposed to look like. What we received was not freshly picked, and if they were it was most likely a pick from ground fallen berries or they were last weeks picking of end of season yield. We found about a doz berries that were either rotting an/or were small and unripe, unlike any baskets we had bought before anywhere from Ontario to the Maritimes. Unable to find contact information for the vendor, I hope to be reassured that this was a exceptional circumstance and that it is not normal for Abbyhill Farms and that I am the only person experiencing this.
